Smashburger is a newer edition to Menlo Park Mall in Edison, New Jersey and is already a popular spot for hungry patrons. Not only are burgers available but salads and chicken sandwiches too.
Although the food may be costly, it seems to be worth the price. For approximately $13, I was able to purchase a classic smashburger consisting of an Angus beef patty, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles, a cheese slice, ketchup, and their special smash sauce, all on an egg bun. Along with the burger I purchased smashfries, and a chocolate milkshake.
The experience of any burger restaurant is supposed to be the burger, Smashburger tremendously lived up to those expectations. This burger was well-cooked and had an even spread of vegetables throughout the burger; so I got a little piece of each vegetable in every bite. While eating the burger, the strong tastes of the pickles and the smash sauce enhanced the burger by adding salty flavors.
The smashfries are a brilliant remake of the classic fry. These thin fries are drizzled in olive oil and topped with rosemary. If you enjoy all types of fries, this could be a new adventure for you. The ideal burger restaurant is supposed to have famous burgers, but Smashburger could be famous for the smashfries, a classic idea repackaged into a renovated idea.
Shakes are another classic idea that Smashburger uses that gives the brand a malt shop like image, even more so when you sit down and they bring it right to you from the kitchen. The shake was topped with whipped cream, but began to melt after 10 minutes of starting it. I was paranoid there would be no shake left by the time I finished my burger. However after it was halfway melted I finished my burger, the chocolaty flavor however was still present.
If you want to buy other things at the mall, Smashburger might not be the place to eat. Much of the food at Smashburger is quite expensive, but the quality seems to be worth the price. Some cheap burgers tend not to be as good as expensive burgers. And if fast service is what you need, get fast food here because the wait time for a sandwich, fries, and a shake was about 10 minutes.
Another factor in the argument of how it compares to other burger chains would be how you prefer your burgers, if you like them cooked a certain way go to a more professional restaurant because you aren’t asked how you would like it. The burger I ordered was mostly brown throughout, with a slight pink sliver in the middle. However this is better and healthier than burgers that could be found at a fast food place that the whole inside is pink.
The battle for which burger chain is supreme isn’t based solely on the burger. There are several key factors: such as how hungry you are when you ate, what you ordered, and how much time you have to eat. If you need to get your food in 5 minutes fast food is the way to go, but if you have half an hour, it is well worth it to take the trip down to Smashburger.
